Is W5D3 correct? Do we really run 2 miles if up until that point we haven't even run one mile continuously yet?
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Tough of the track,
With the wind,
And the rain that's beating down on your back.
Your heart's beating loud
And goes on getting louder
And goes on even more till the sound
Is ringing in your head,
With every step you tread,
And every breath you take,
Determination makes
You run,
Never stop,
Gotta win, gotta run till you drop,
Keep the pace,
Hold the race,
Your mind is getting clearer,
You're over halfway there but the miles
Just never seem to end
As if you're in a dream,
Not getting anywhere.
It seems so futile.
Chorus:
Run, on and on,
Run, on and on,
The loneliness of the long distance runner.
I've got to keep running the course,
I've got to keep running and win at all costs,
I've got to keep going, be strong,
Must be so determined and push myself on.
Run over stiles, across fields,
Turn to look at who's on your heels,
Way ahead of the field,
The line is getting nearer but do
You want the glory that goes,
You reach the final stretch,
Ideals are just a trace,
You feel like throwing the race,
It's all so futile.
Chorus:
Run, on and on,
Run, on and on,
The loneliness of the long distance runner.
Tough of the track,
With the wind,
And the rain that's beating down on your back.

Oh hay thar adiml! I'm Sarah, 25, from Hertfordshire in England but that's not important because I wasn't there on Saturday 28th June, I was at Glastonbury Festival! Woo! And it was AWESOME.
I've been meaning to do another adiml for the last year or so but just haven't got around to it, or I've got halfway through and my camera's run out of battery - which happened at Glasto last year, actually, which kind of sucked because it's also my phone - but I'm here now! With spare batteries! My last post is here, if you fancy comparing. I'm mostly lurky here, these days.
69 pics under the cut, plus preview pic. I actually took nearly 300 photos over the whole weekend - 200 of which were on this day. Oooops. But I trimmed, and I'll subject my Facebook friends to the rest of them. Lucky people.

I'm on my pumping break right now, for the very last time--the last time for Penelope, anyway. I decided when I went back to work that I would pump until her first birthday, when she could start drinking cow's milk instead of breast milk, and so I have pumped almost every work day since I started back last October. Until just a month or so ago, most days I pumped twice, and sometimes three times.
I will be so happy to clean out yon pump and pump bag, and take it up to the attic with the bassinet and Boppy and newborn clothes and other such items. I haven't minded pumping... much. But I won't mind quitting!
Next week, I'll send bottles of breast milk mixed with whole milk, and use up what's left of my freezer stash. It has dwindled a lot as a result of various mess-ups recently. When the refrigerator broke, I lost a lot of milk that thawed out and couldn't be used up in a timely manner. Then I got it in my head that maybe I could stop scalding, but then I faced the fact that the lipase issue didn't go away, so I couldn't really use the unscladed portions anymore. I've got maybe 8 or 10 ounces left, plus what I'm pumping now, so I'll phase Penelope into the cow's milk next week.
I gave her some milk in a sippy last night; two days before her birthday is close enough, I decided, and plus, this year was a leap year, so it's really just one day! She didn't seem to care about it one way or another. She's not really into sippys. I suppose I'll continue to send bottles to Baby School, but also continue to send sippys to try to get her to warm up to them.
What to do tomorrow? I don't have to work--yay! I'll probably take the birthday girl out to the park, and maybe the mall, and decide between fireworks in town or a carnival I saw advertised in Newtown.
A year ago today, I was probably at my desk, working claims, uncomfortable, suffering from the wrath of Mr. Stabby Shoulder, trying my best to prop up my Play Dough feet, and wondering when my baby was going to be born. This time the next day, I was about to start pushing. And then there was Penelope, and life as I knew it blended seamlessly into the life I know now.

But part of that life I know now is about to end itself. Mrs. Hoover, I salute you. And now, I will pry you off of my boobs, rinse out your suction cups, and lay you to rest until the next time I have a baby.

I love fruit. Love love love! I've been blueberry picking a couple times this season and have about a gallon frozen before eating the rest. Today, I harvested wild blackberries out back. Much less expensive, but hard work trying to get to the vines without having your eyes poked out by the thorns. I do have several holes in my hands from reaching into the brambles. I was able to pick about a pint before my daughter needed me and I figure there's about another pint of ripe berries out there. Not a lot, but very yummy. I have a couple questions for you all.
I'd like to harvest more berries with less pain. What can I do to cultivate these blackberries? What stalks should I thin out? What year do the berries produce on? Only new vines? 2 year old vines? three? What if I were to plant some in my yard in a place that won't kill my children. We do have several vines, but had to cut down TONS. I don't want to draw snakes, either. I live in zone 7B in NC. I also want my berries to be bigger and juicier. Most are tiny on the wild vines. Can I take cutting from these vines to make an arbor in my yard? Same thing for blueberries. We have heavy clay soil. Very acidic, which I hear they love, but maybe not very good draining (and gets rock hard during our frequent droughts). Will they flourish? The blueberries I picked seemed great about 6 miles down the road, but that might have different soil. Also, how long before newly planted bushes produce?

Hey, I'm Norah, 15, from Illinois. This is my first adiml (although it's my 2nd attempt since my pictures were impossible to see before... dunno what happened there. Let me know if you can see them this time! I checked using Mozilla and IE [both while logged out, just to make sure] on my own lj page and it seems to have worked fine this time).

Lol, it appears that my father heartily approves of my baking experiments. The moment I got downstairs for my breakfast this morning he came at me, waving excitedly with the newspaper, going "LOOK IT HAS A RECIPE FOR STRAWBERRY CRUMBLE AND IT SOUNDS RLY GOOD, YOU SHOULD MAKE THAT. WILL YOU MAKE IT? I'LL GO GET STRAWBERRIES!" So I made it. It was AMAZING. If anyone's interested, I'll post the recipe here. It's very easy to make!
I think I will be doing a lot more baking this summer, especially since I have recently discovered FoodGawker, which features horrible stuff like this:

I think that by the end of summer I will have to have someone roll me from place to place like Violet Beauregard. D:
Also, I went to the dentist today and he said that I should have my wisdom teeth pulled before they start wreaking ~havoc~ in my mouth somehow or other. NO NO NO NO DO NOT WANT! Halp D:

I've jut got a new camera and have taken some pics to test the trueness of the colour as my other one couldn't get blues and purples. You may hink that I've posted this to the wrong community but I haven't. I need true likenesses of my plants and flowers you see. Here are the
very first ones.
I hope you like them.

Hello everyone!
I have a tiger lily garden in the front of my house. This is only my second summer in the house so last year I just let things go to see what would come up. In the fall I raked out the garden, everything seemed to come up nicely this spring, but now I hardly have blooms. Last year they were out of hand and this year it's a few here and there. I know the women that lived in our house before was not much of gardener and I'm sure I'm making a bigger effort with the gardens. I guess is what makes this so frustrating! I'm diligent about watering and caring for them, but I have no idea what happened. Any suggestions? Perhaps I shouldn't have raked out the garden in the fall? I'm pretty bummed about this and I hope to not make the same mistake twice. Thanks for your help!
Here are my garden photos. As you can tell I tend to take lots of them. :o)
Thanks again!

Last night I did another day of the week one part of the z21m program. It was really hard! I thought about quitting almost immediately but I pushed on through. Sean says it is probably because I just swam yesterday and my body needs time to recover. He is probably right. He is also really proud of me and in awe because he isn't a swimmer, I mean, he swims, but he can't do laps for long. He is going to attempt the c25k on his own though and get a head start until I am ready. I think if I feel this good from swimming a little bit every day, I will love getting into a running program when my body is ready for it.
Also last night, thunder bolts and lightening, very, very frightening! It was actually really beautiful. The bolts of lightening were red...ooooh! It slowed down a bit around 10-ish so I thought it was over. But no, I was woken up at 3am with loud noises, both from the thunder and my downstairs neighbors having a dispute over who knows what. All I heard was really consistent, loud banging and I thought it was at our door. I immediately jolted awake thinking we got struck by lightening or something (two house fires in one lifetime makes one paranoid). But no, they were just fighting. So now I am grumpy today from lack of proper sleep. But I see this is a common thing going around since the storm itself woke everyone in Portland up.
Today after work we should have new phones delivered! Yay! Sean gets a discount through work for AT&T so we switched. He had Verizon and I had T-Mobile, so now we'll be on a family plan with new matchy matchy phones and new almost the same phone numbers. How cute. Mmm new phone goodness.

systris, want to buy my sk3 and upgrade before I take it to CL or ebay?
